Every responsible pet owner worries about what they are feeding their dogs. It’s natural to want your pet to be healthy and enjoying life. The effects of a bad diet are the same for them as for us – tiredness, grumpiness, lethargy, heart problems, diabetes and more. However, it is sometimes difficult to know whether a food product is healthy or not. Even expensive luxury foods might not be the best thing out there for your dog.
Here are 10 ingredients you should not feed them:
- Carrageenan – Found in many foods but inflames the intestines.
- Ethoxyquin – A preservative affecting the kidneys and livers in dogs.
- Propylene Glycol – Can block the intestines and cause cancerous lesions to grow.
- BHT – Carcinogenic and toxic substance.
- BHA – Kidney ruining preservative.
- Food Dyes – Any food dye has the potential to cause allergies and cancer.
- Corn Syrup/Corn – Known to cause diabetes and obesity.
- By-Products – Can cause organ and tissue failure.
- Xylitol – Known to cause lethargy.
- Sorbitol – Know to cause hyperactivity and exhaustion.
It is possible to avoid these products. Whether you get wet, dry or raw food, and whichever treats you get for your dog, you can check the ingredient list and make sure what you buy them doesn’t contain any of these products.
