Animals get nose bleeds due to injury, foreign bodies, tumours, infections, poisoning or high blood pressure.
The majority of time it is just a minor injury and applying pressure and cooling them will help.
However if the bleeding lasts longer than 15 minutes or the bleeding is heavy you should contact your vet straight away.

How to treat a nose bleed:
- Ideally wear gloves
- Grab something to catch the blood
- Cool the nose with a cool pack or bag of frozen peas wrapped in a cloth
- Apply pressure for at least 10 minutes
- Release pressure slightly and if it starts to bleed again, hold for a bit longer
IF BLEEDING IS EXTREMELY HEAVY OR CONTINUES FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES CONTACT YOUR VET ASAP.
